San Angel Inn: A Classic, Must-Visit Mexico City Restaurant

The beautiful San Angel Inn Restaurant in Mexico City, Mexico is an experience for your eyes just as much as your taste buds. 


The grounds of the restaurant have a deeply seeded history that has been cherished and upheld over the years. While it’s now a renowned restaurant, it was originally built to be a Carmelite monastery and dates back to 1692. 

Over the years, the purpose and ownership of the grounds have changed.

It wasn’t until 1963 that a group of investors came together to create the “Antiguo San Angel Inn” restaurant. 


The aim of the restaurant was to celebrate Mexican cuisine. To do this, their mission was to develop an experience that would translate over to international tourists. As a result of these ambitious goals, San Angel Inn Restaurant has time and time again showcased the beauty of Mexican hospitality. 

Today, diners will be met with an experience that stands up to the original vision and mission of San Angel Inn Restaurant. 


Visitors can dine on some of the finest Mexican and international cuisine as they take in the beauty of the original gardens and buildings.

There are four different seating options diners can select, each provides its own unique beauty and experience. 


They include the main dining room and patio, San Angel Inn, which serves lunch and dinner. 


There’s also the Gastronome restaurant which serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. 


The Veranda is also a beautiful setting that serves breakfast only. Lastly, diners can celebrate special events in private rooms in their banquet settings.
