How Much Does it Cost to Travel to Oaxaca?

With all the cultural and natural beauty that awaits you in Oaxaca, it’s no wonder why tourists throughout the globe turn to this southwestern Mexico state when it's time to unwind and relax. 


If you’re planning your next vacation here, you’ve probably wondered how much does it cost to travel to Oaxaca? 


The good news is, if you plan your trip just right, you can get a great bargain for an unforgettable vacation.

According to Champion Traveler, if you are booking a seven day getaway to Oaxaca, the average cost will be just over $1,200. 


If you're traveling with a buddy, or as a couple, that average cost rises to roughly $2,200.


Flight costs largely depend on where you are flying from, and the time of the year you are flying out. 


January, November, and December are the region’s high seasons and flight costs will be higher this time of year.

If you are flying into Oaxaca from North America, flight tickets will generally be cheaper with an average round-trip ticket costing just over $700. 


If you are flying into the region from the eastern hemisphere, flight tickets will be a lot pricier, typically starting at around $1200 for a round trip flight.


While hotel costs are a lot steadier than flight costs, the price of your lodging largely depends on the time of year you come. 


During the peak tourist season, hotel prices will be at their highest, averaging anywhere from $100 - $300  a night depending on the hotel or resort you choose to stay at. 


Luckily, Oaxaca does offer a range of lodging options so that you can find a hotel that suits your budget needs.

Lastly, the activities and amenities you plan to enjoy while in Oaxaca will impact the cost of your trip. 


Typically, it's best to set aside about $50 a day per person for the purpose of enjoying the activities offered here.
