La Gritona Tequila is carefully brewed by Melly Barajas and her all-female team in her quaint distillery located in Valle De Guadalupe, Jalisco. Her hallmark tequila is the result of fermented agave plants cultivated in the iron rich red soil of the Jalisco highlands.

With a detailed and traditional distillation process that takes on a resting process of 8 months in reused American whiskey barrels, Barajas and her team create unmatched flavors.

The carefully crafted tequila is then packaged in beautiful Mexican glass bottles that are hand blown in the nearby town of Zapopan.

Produced in Santiago Matatlan, Oaxaca by a 5th generation family, run by a mother and her 3 daughters and founded and owned by Sonya Vega.

Vega set out and accomplished the goal of creating a reimagined spirit that has a refreshing and bold new flavor.

Vega’s agave based liquor takes the bold traditions of Mexican mezcal and introduces new flavors that feature a classic smokey taste with a more modern flair. Much of her success dates back to the support and inspiration offered by her family.

“I wanted to create a modern take on mezcal, with a flavor that is complex and playful, while honoring the authentic core and tradition. After years of research, I teamed up with an amazing female-led production team to create what I believe is the perfect mezcal,” Vega writes on her website.

RSVP to attend our #MIMPFiesta this week, and you’ll have the opportunity to taste these authentic spirits for yourself!
