Merida is full of great restaurants but one worth noting is La Chaya Maya. Here, diners can enjoy breakfast, lunch, and dinner in an environment fit for all sorts of travelers. 


The menu is chock full of popular Mayan dishes, so there is certainly a meal here for everyone. 


This restaurant is known for its tasty homemade tortillas, papadzules, tamal colado, and chaya juice. 


One of the most notable dishes to try is the Yucatan classic––creme de Chaya Soup. If you're in the mood for something a bit heartier, then the empanadas, chicken, and panuchos are also great options to go with.

A drink that is touted by many is the classic chaya drink. Chaya is a unique plant native to the Yucatan and is revered by natives as an essential plant for health and wellness.

The spinach-like leaves are used in a variety of dishes and soups but are most popular in the region’s chaya drink. The chaya drink is certainly one worth sipping on if you're looking for a refreshing yet energizing beverage.
While the restaurant is generally busy and is a hub for tourists and locals alike, there's always room to pop in without a reservation. Diners will have the option of enjoying their meal in the main hall, but there's also a lovely courtyard as well.

No matter where you sit, you're sure to have a satisfying meal that is chock full of traditional Mayan flavors. This is definitely a place to check out if you are ever in the area.

    These Mexican church candles are a centuries-old tradition. Made by pouring hot layers of paraffin over cotton wicks and stamped with gold foil. These candles have been used and are still used to grace church altars and to illuminate homes for fiestas in Mexico.

    • The warm color is achieved by melting amber (crystallized tree sap).

    Pick Up Orders: For local customers based in Brooklyn, pick-up is available at checkout at no additional charge. If you are charged shipping at checkout, send us an email and we will refund you the shipping cost.     Return process

    If you would like to return or exchange clothing or shoes, A USPS return label will be automatically generated. *Please Note: The shipping cost of the return label will be deducted from your return total. To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, with tags, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase.

    To start a return, you can contact us at orders@mexicoinmypocket.com. If your return is accepted, we’ll send you a return shipping label, as well as instructions on how and where to send your package. Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted. You can always contact us for any return question at orders@mexicoinmypocket.com.


    Damages and issues
    Please inspect your order upon reception and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged or if you receive the wrong item, so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right.

    Exchanges
    The fastest way to ensure you get what you want is to return the item you have, and once the return is accepted, make a separate purchase for the new item.

    Refunds
    We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return, and let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded on your original payment method. Please remember it can take some time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund too.
