Part-Time Sales Associate

Location: Brooklyn, NY

When: Immediately 

Part-Time Sales Associate & Key Holder for Mexico In My Pocket (up to 32 hours)
We’re looking for one part-time sales associate and key holder to help us provide the ultimate experience at our shop in Brooklyn, New York.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Delivering the Mexico In My Pocket experience by making sure customers feel welcome and at home
  • Storytelling and guiding customers through the origins and/or sharing who makes the items we sell
  • Operating the point of sale (POS) register and email systems
  • Being a quick thinker who listens to the customer and can identify their sales needs and overcome objections if raised
  • Making sure merchandise always stays tidy, clean, and organized
  • Working to hit sales goals and targets
  • Explaining the benefits of our loyalty programs
  • Unpacking and organizing new inventory
  • Fulfilling and packaging online orders
  • Building and cultivating customer relationships beyond the initial transaction; utilizing phone, email and written follow-up contact
  • Participating in the merchandising and operational requirements of the role
  • Following all store operational policies and procedures
  • Opening and closing the store

Requirements:

  • 1-2 years retail or hospitality customer service experience preferred
  • Detail oriented
  • Problem solver who has the ability to think on their feet
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule with retail hours, including day, evenings and weekends
  • Ability to post and link on social media: Instagram Stories and Tiktok
  • Comfortable with technology and learning new systems
  • Ability to read and interpret instructional documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals
  • Ability to pack and fulfill orders, including fragile items
  • Dog lover
  • Spanish is a plus, but not a requirement
  • Knowledge of Tiktok Shop is a plus, but not a requirement

Physical Requirements:

  • Position requires prolonged periods of standing/walking around gift shop
  • May involve reaching, crouching, kneeling, stooping and using color vision
  • Frequent use of computers and other technology is necessary to perform job functions, including handheld equipment, POS system and ability to process register transactions
  • Frequently lift/move up to 30lbs
