Vendor: Casa Paz

Created by the Méndez family in Santo Tomas, Oaxaca using a backstrap loom. Each muñequita (little doll) is handmade and dyed using natural dyes.

About the Artisans:

The Méndez family is made up four sisters. Verónica, the eldest daughter, leads her sisters to work together and make each of the pieces they sell. Their work begins when they sit on a wooden bench (or on the floor), using a a waist loom technique and a wooden stick to embroider beautiful and one-of-a-kind textiles. After about 3 days (depending on the size and complexity of the design), the piece is completed and ready to enjoy.
