Letter To Our Community: Why We Are No Longer Partnering with Amazon

We have some exciting updates to share with you!

As you already know, sharing stories about Mexico and amplifying the voices of our community is at the heart of what we do. This also includes making sure to find the best ways to support our artisans and small business owners, which is more relevant than ever before due to the Coronavirus crisis.

We are excited to announce that we will be partnering with Bookshop.org, an online bookstore whose mission is to financially support local and independent bookstores.

Bookshop.org’s mission is simple. They believe bookstores are “essential to creating a healthy culture” and that they are the “anchors for our downtowns and communities.”

When you shop online with Bookshop, you will directly support local bookstores.

Since we are so passionate about sharing stories from Mexico and encouraging the members of our community to continue learning with us, we have also decided that we will no longer be partnering with Amazon as an affiliate. While we recognize that the prices are often more competitive, we believe that as consumers we have a responsibility to support our communities directly.

When you make a purchase from Bookshop.org via Mexico In My Pocket, 10% of the price you pay will go directly to independent bookstores. Of the profit made by Bookshop, a further 75% goes to stores, publications and authors. A final 10% will go to Mexico In My Pocket, which will enable us to continue creating and sharing stories about Mexican travel and culture.

Going forward, we hope you will help us support our bookstores, artisans, and small businesses by shopping with us.

We greatly appreciate your support, both financially and by also helping us share stories from Mexico!

If you have any questions or would like to work together, drop us an email at hola@mexicoinmypocket.com.

We always love to hear from you.
